What are your career goals after graduating?

I am hoping to work in toxicology research at Unilever. Beyond that I hope to someday pursue my PhD and work for the EA.

Tell us about the teaching environment and lecturers on your course.

A few of the lecturers stand out to me as always being ready to help students and ensure that we succeed. Most of them are able to break down high-level concepts into simpler terms.

Tell us how the course has helped you to develop your skills for your current/future career.

This course has taught me a lot about various omics, which I wasn’t familiar with before. Thanks to the dedication of my professors, I have learned a lot about how omics data can be analyzed using different algorithms.

What are the best things about your course?

The best things so far have been studying with thoughtful professors, particularly in Computational Biology and Machine Learning, and networking with like-minded peers.

Why did you choose to study your current course?

I came from a tech background and I wanted to use my skills in tech for something meaningful. I felt that bioinformatics gives the opportunity to work in important fields like toxicology research, evolution and the environment.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Birmingham?

I knew that the University of Birmingham was a prestigious university with a strong bioinformatics programme and many well-educated professors.
