What were you doing before you started your course?

I was a stay at home mum. I practiced Public Relations occasionally while also running different self owned businesses online.

Why did you choose your course at the University of Birmingham?

I wanted to have a International Masters in Health Care to compare with my own country’s health care system. I chose UOB because it is prestigious university. One of Russell group’s top 20 uni in the UK. The credentials of the lecturers was interesting to me too.

What has been your biggest achievement during your course?

Personally, I left my comfort zone to pursue my Masters against all odds. Professionally, I crossed over into the healthcare care sector. Away from Public relations and Advertising that I studied in my BSc. Academically, I am doing well despite having an 11year break from studies. I had thought I would goof a lot 😃

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering postgraduate study in your field?

Come with an open mind. Be present in class. You might have to unlearn some things to replace them with new knowledge. Speak up a lot when you feel stuck. Use your Personal Academic Tutor, they can be helpful. Never wait till the deadline to submit your assignment.

What, for you, are the best things about the course?

The fact that I get to learn about the Health Care Policy of the UK and how the NHS works.

What was your motivation for undertaking postgraduate study?

I come from a family of 8. I am the only one without a Masters. My motivation was from this fact and also because I want my kids to grow up knowing that academia is a thing.
