Since completing the Bootcamp I have worked with Netflix as a Costume Trainee where I put to use all I had learnt. I would have been slightly overwhelmed had I not undertaken the Bootcamp.
I am currently applying to more Costume roles to gain further experience and work up the ladder in the industry.

Tell us about yourself and your journey to studying a Skills Bootcamp.

It started with a lot of learning and lectures. It was fairly small group of us which made it easier to get to know each other and connect with our lecturers who were industry professionals. We learnt about each department with those who already work in that sector, had practical training in using things such as headsets and terminology. We were given the chance to create our own scene and even had the chance work alongside Doctors at the BBC Drama Village.
The whole process from start to end was very exciting, to be in and around those in the industry and those who want to get into it. I developed a lot personally and professionally throughout the process of the Bootcamp.

Why did you choose to study a Skills Bootcamp at the University of Birmingham?

I chose to do this Bootcamp to learn more about the industry. I had been trained in theatre as an actor and I wanted to know more about TV and Film as a Crew member. How do I network? How do I get experience? What terminology do I need to know? How do I write a successful industry CV? Really important things I had some idea on but needed to know more about. When I saw this opportunity I jumped at it! I knew I had to do this and that it would be a game changer for the start of my career.
