I was fortunate to receive the Responsible Business Dean’s Scholarship from the University of Birmingham. This scholarship has significantly reduced the financial burden on my family and me. Most importantly, it serves as a major motivation for me to work hard and excel in my studies. Through the process of applying for this scholarship, I also gained more knowledge about responsible business practices, which has given me insights that I can apply throughout my studies.

I hope to create wonderful memories during my time here, building quality networks, gaining solid knowledge, and most importantly, developing my personal skills. I aim to become more confident, assertive, and knowledgeable through my studies and experiences at the University of Birmingham.

What are you looking forward to most on your course?

As a student coming from a different field, what I’m most excited about is building a strong foundation in analytics to prepare myself for future work. I’m particularly looking forward to collaborating with companies, as my course offers a Capstone Project. This will be a valuable opportunity to gain real-world experience and understand firsthand the expectations of businesses, which I find very exciting.

What have been your first impressions of Birmingham so far?

Birmingham, so far, has given me the impression of being a truly diverse city. I’m living in Selly Oak, which feels more peaceful and quiet, while the city centre is vibrant and full of energy. My experience in Birmingham has been great over the past couple of weeks, with friendly locals, welcoming classmates, and inspiring university events. Despite the occasional heavy rain, I thoroughly enjoy the autumn here, with the vibrant reds and yellows of the leaves, the blue skies, and the warm sunshine. I especially love those late afternoons, watching the sunset at the university — it’s truly a beautiful moment to take in.

What was your motivation for postgraduate study?

My motivation for pursuing postgraduate study comes from a simple desire to enhance my knowledge and personal experience. During my four years of studying Business Administration in my home country, I discovered a particular passion for using and analyzing data to guide business decisions. This hands-on experience sparked my interest in diving deeper into the world of data-driven strategies.

Therefore, pursuing a Masters degree feels like the natural next step for me to further explore this field, sharpen my skills, and develop a more profound understanding that I can apply in real-world business scenarios. I’m excited about the opportunity to grow academically and professionally, and I see this journey as an essential step toward achieving my future goals.
