Questions

What impact has the Skills Bootcamp had on you?

The programme has to be the most gruelling event I’ve undergone in my whole life. And equally one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. It’s been so tasking, both mentally and physically. Yet, for me, the decision to take the course is unregretted.

I’ve learnt so much in a relatively short period, coming from a background in communications with no knowledge of programming languages hitherto. In a nugget, I’d say the most incredible takeaway from the course is learning how to find answers to problems through collaboration, documentations, Google-foo-ing and sheer curiosity.

One amazing thing about coding is that there could be several ways to get something done. I found that if I could deploy my logic effectively, I could develop my own code to solve a problem. This is something I had to do many times over when solving challenges during the course.

What would you say to someone considering the Skills Bootcamp?

It’s a great way to ready oneself for new and emerging opportunities in one’s career journey. But it also takes much discipline.

I wish every student who has participated in this programme the very best in their career development journey. You’re a success if you made it this far. Better days are ahead.

How was your experience of accessing Skills Bootcamp careers support?

My career coach, Andrea Buwalda, from 2U was very helpful in discussing my intended career path and providing me with useful materials to help me navigate the labyrinth of job search.
