I applied for and succeeded in gaining one of the University’s postgraduate scholarships of £2000, which was immediately discounted from my tuition. I was very impressed with the system, as I was convinced I would have to go through a reimbursement process.

What has been your biggest achievement during your course (personal, professional or academic)?

To have achieved a high grade in one of my academic essays using new practice-based research methods I had learnt in the first term

Why did you choose your course at the University of Birmingham?

It seemed to offer the best range of modules for what I wanted to study, particularly offering a more academic approach to studying Film and TV production.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering postgraduate study in your field?

Apply with an idea of what area of the industry you would like to be in, and a rough thought process as to how you will achieve this… Then be sure to attend with an open mind to try the many other pathways on offer. Even if you eventually decide to stick with your original plan, you’ll have a much better idea of why that is!

What, for you, are the best things about the course?

The options the course enables for me to take-on more academic or more practice-based work and assessment, depending on how I want these elements to weight across my degree.

What was your motivation for undertaking postgraduate study?

I wanted a more concentrated qualification in the industry I intend to work in
