What have been your first impressions of Birmingham so far?

My first impressions of Birmingham have been overwhelmingly positive. The city is vibrant, diverse, and has an energy that immediately makes you feel welcome. There’s a great balance between modern developments and historical landmarks, which gives the city a unique character. One of the first things I noticed was how convenient it is to get around — everything is well-connected, whether it’s traveling between the university and the city center or exploring the various neighborhoods. The university campus itself is beautiful, with the iconic Old Joe standing out. It’s a blend of modern facilities and a rich academic history, making it an inspiring place to study.

What really impressed me is the sense of community. Both on campus and in the wider city, people are friendly, and it’s easy to find your place. There’s always something happening — whether it’s events at the Student Union, cultural festivals in the city, or just casual meet-ups at local cafes. The green spaces around campus and in the city also provide a peaceful escape when needed. Birmingham feels like a place where I can thrive academically, socially, and personally, and I’m excited to make the most of my time here.

What was your motivation for postgraduate study?

My motivation for pursuing postgraduate study stems from my decision to major in finance during the final year of my graduation. That choice sparked my interest in the field, and I realized that to achieve my career goals, an MSc in Financial Management would open up the best opportunities for me. When it came to selecting a university, I always aspired to join a prestigious Russell Group institution. After visiting the University of Birmingham in 2022, I knew it was where I wanted to be, and I’ve worked hard to make that dream a reality.
