What has been your biggest achievement during your course?

My biggest achievement so far in my course has been the ability to disseminate my research (presenting at conferences, submitting an article for journal publication, etc.)

Why did you choose your course at the University of Birmingham?

I wanted to return to the University of Birmingham to study under the same supervisory time as my Masters degree, with whom I’d collaborated well.

What were you doing before you started your course?

I spent a short time away from academia building up my work experience, tutoring French and Spanish languages at a Birmingham secondary school.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering postgraduate study in your field?

If you’re passionate about research and networking with like-minded people, do it!

What, for you, are the best things about the course?

I enjoy the freedom to lead your own project and conduct research both at an institutional level and further afield – I’m looking forward to a research trip to Paris in April 2023!

What was your motivation for undertaking postgraduate study?

My Masters degree whetted my appetite when it came to academic research. After graduating and spending some time broadening my work experience, I realised I wanted to come back to academia and, hopefully, to pursue a related career!
