What practical training have you received during the course? Which facilities or equipment have you used most so far?

We have been trained to use Sony FX30, Black Magic and Canon Cameras, and have also received training on using lights and audio equipment. We have had assignments which required editing and we have been taught Premiere Pro. The faculty has been very helpful and we are able to access equipment and studios for learning and shooting quite easily which is very beneficial.

What is your favourite module so far?

My favourite module so far has been Documentary film making where we have learned and discussed about so many aspects of it, and also shown films which helped us form narratives.

What's your career goal and how is Birmingham helping you reach this?

I have been inclined towards film and TV since childhood and this course at UOB is a perfect blend of both, where we discuss and practice different aspects of the subject. It has guest workshops, alumni connections, and even an internship placement opportunity which has given me great networking opportunities in the Film and TV industry.

What do you think is unique about the University of Birmingham?

The University of Birmingham prioritizes student needs and has loads of opportunities for networking which gives great exposure. It helps in student growth from a holistic perspective where we are helped in every way, be that our mental health, or building our CVs . It also has a Guild of Students through which we get to meet so many students and take part in fun activities as well.
