Internship opportunities and field trip. I think there is so much information about internship opportunity from the careers network team that I receive through my email, there are some opportunities that could help me connect with the industries to learn more practically. Last but not least is the field trip that is scheduled in the second term that I can’t wait for.
It is a magnificent city that has a strategic location and is student friendly. I could save more because the living cost was affordable and there are numerous student discounts. The people are vibrant and very welcoming.
My personal and professional background in air pollution are what motivate me the most for my postgraduate study and I hope I could bring back more knowledge that could contribute to the better air quality in Indonesia, which still highly depend on fossil fuels especially coal and oil.
To be able to pursue my Masters degree abroad is an extraordinary privilege for me especially being sponsored by the Indonesian Government through the most competitive scholarship scheme in Indonesia. As an employee in oil and gas industry, I could never imagine continuing my study in the UK, until I finally made it here now at the University of Birmingham. It was a very challenging journey because I was the first one in my big family that could study overseas. Although I have very limited resources, I work night after night for more information about studying abroad and study about the University that can support my study and the program that fits me best.
I came from a middle economy income family in Indonesia, living in an island that might you could not even know existed. It is Muara Enim regency, one of the biggest coal barns in Indonesia. We breathe the black ashes every day from the coal mining and transportation, while the society could not do anything because it improves the society’s earnings. Ironically I also work in fossil fuels industry which also contribute to the air pollution. My biggest dream is to eliminate, reduce and control the air pollution in my region and my country. This is the reason why, I wanted to pursue my postgraduate in UoB as I know it could support my goal.
