Did you receive any funding when applying for postgraduate study? How has it helped?

Yes, I received the Postgraduate Progression Award. It’s definitely made things a lot easier especially given the fact that I am continuing on to post graduate studies immediately after finishing my undergraduate.

What do you hope to achieve during your postgraduate study at Birmingham?

Overall I hope to simply be able to make the best of each day and make sure to take all the opportunities I can, getting involved and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I hope to complete my studies with no regrets knowing that I fully immersed myself into this chapter of life and was able to appreciate the privilege of having the opportunity to study at the university.

What are you looking forward to most on your course?

I think I’m most looking forward to meeting lots of new people on the MSc course who share a similar passion for the subject. I’m also looking forward to the transition from undergrad to postgrad and being able to have plenty of opportunities to grow not only academically but also in my social life, with career opportunities and my overall mindset.

What have been your first impressions of Birmingham so far?

With this being my fourth year studying in Birmingham I can thoroughly say I love the place! The campus itself is a really inspiring place to come and study with a great range of facilities and such beautiful architecture that i don’t think i could ever get sick of looking at. Around Birmingham itself there’s also plenty of fun activities and for a foodie like me I absolutely love the range of places to eat.

What was your motivation for postgraduate study?

I was motivated to continue on to post grad study as i was excited at the opportunity to be able to specialise my knowledge in the area of mental health having just completed my psychology degree, which consisted of more of a broad range of topics. I also felt that this would help me to set the foundation for my future career aspirations in the mental health sector.
