Questions

What do you hope to achieve during your postgraduate study at Birmingham?

During my postgraduate journey, I hope to not only level up my academics but also gain a solid foundation of practical knowledge. I’m excited about meeting new people, making friends, and really embracing the diversity and culture that comes with living abroad. This experience offers me a chance to understand different perspectives, and I want to take full advantage of that. I also see this as an opportunity to explore more about myself, what I’m truly passionate about and what drives me. And of course, I’ll be working on making my LinkedIn shine I guess. When I leave, I want to carry with me not just growth, but also memories, experiences, and friendships that I’ll cherish forever.

What are you looking forward to most on your course?

What I’m really looking forward to in my course is getting into the practical side of Human Resource Management and gaining hands-on experience. I’m excited to see how HR works in global corporate environments and apply my background in psychology to better understand and manage people. Since I tend to be a bit of an introvert when starting conversations, I think this course will help push me outside of my comfort zone. Dealing with people is such a central part of HR, and I’m looking forward to that challenge. It feels like the perfect opportunity to grow not only academically but also personally, especially in the areas where I want to become more confident and open. Collaborating with diverse minds and bringing my own creativity into the field feels like an exciting journey, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.

What have been your first impressions of Birmingham so far?

My first impression of Birmingham has been a breath of fresh air. I prefer places that are less crowded, where people take their time to observe and enjoy the little things, and so far, Birmingham has given me exactly that. Coming from Delhi, India’s bustling capital where everything feels like it’s in fast-forward, I’ve been craving the chance to just sit still and appreciate nature. Birmingham keeps surprising me with its scenic greenery, art museums, and beautiful lakes, and I’m loving every bit of it. The company here is great, too! Of course, I miss my mom’s home-cooked meals, but we’ll get through it.

What was your motivation for postgraduate study?

I’ve always been fascinated by human behavior and its evolution, which led me to pursue psychology as my undergraduate major. However, I also have a strong affinity for the corporate world. Human Resource Management felt like the perfect way to blend both my passions, understanding people in a professional setting.

I’m originally from Delhi, India, and this is my first time living away from my family. It’s a bit overwhelming, but exciting at the same time. I love expressing my creative side through content creation. My work is really about curating what I’d like to see on my page, things that catch my eye and feel aesthetically pleasing. I enjoy capturing cute, cozy moments and recording snippets of my everyday life.

The journey to postgraduate study has been a little nerve-wracking. The process as an international student was definitely rigorous, and at times it felt like giving up. But now that I’m here, it all feels worth it. Everything has fallen into place, and I can truly appreciate how far I’ve come.
