What would you say to someone considering the Skills Bootcamp?

Very worth while. Bite size and manageable and excellent opportunity to propel you into the world of academic research and innovation that you can then take back to your organisation or business. Provides a valuable bridge between organisations and academia.

What are some of the best things about your Skills Bootcamp experience or your biggest achievements?

Working for a charitable organisation it is always good to go and learn about best practice. The skills bootcamp has shown me many aspects of best practice along with gaining valuable networking contacts for the future.

Please tell us about your new role. How does the Skills Bootcamp experience relate to your new role?

I have moved from being Listed Buildings Support Officer to having a more formal and recognised focus on sustainability and net zero within the built environment. This transition happened during the time the Skills Bootcamp was taking place.

Have you been offered a new job role and/or responsibilities which utilise the skills and experience acquired on the Skills Bootcamp?

Yes, I am now a Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager at the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

Tell us about yourself and your journey to studying a Skills Bootcamp.

Starting to lead on sustainability and net zero in the built environment for my employer I was looking for courses to aid my development with that part of my role.

Why did you choose to study a Skills Bootcamp at the University of Birmingham?

Working and living within the Midlands it was the logical choice of location. Funding was also made available for the course by the West Midlands Combined Authority.
