The Careers Network offers a variety of events, including job fairs, workshops, and guest speaker sessions, providing valuable insights into interviewing, CV writing, and cover letters. Additionally, they offer a mentoring system that pairs recent graduates with industry professionals in their desired field. This allows for the exchange of experiences and knowledge to support career development, which I have found to be highly beneficial.

Furthermore, the Birmingham Internal Academy provides a range of academic English classes aimed at improving language skills, it is really useful, especially for international students, like me.

What are the best things about your course?

I like my course because it offers the opportunity to undertake a company project as part of an internship instead of a traditional dissertation. I find a company project to be more practical and beneficial for my future career. Additionally, I have the chance to experience a Dubai campus tour. The class size is small, with only around 34 students in my cohort, which means I can develop a closer relationship with fellow students.

How has your funding helped you?

I received funding from the BBS MSc Supply Chain Management Scholarship. It massively helped me to mitigate the economic burden because the tuition fees for international students are usually higher than for home students.

Tell us about yourself and your journey to postgraduate study.

Hi, my name is Yuwen Huang, but you can call me Annie. I’m from Taiwan, and I’m currently pursuing an MSc in Supply Chain Management at Birmingham Business School.

My journey to postgraduate study has been an enriching experience. This semester, I’m enrolled in three modules, which include engaging seminars where we discuss various case studies and play simulation games. The professors have enhanced our learning by inviting guest speakers and organizing a field trip to explore logistics hubs at Boohoo and Royal Mail.

What was your motivation for postgraduate study?

I want to pursue postgraduate studies because I aim to change my career to the supply chain field. I believe there are more job opportunities in this field on the job market, and this field will continue to be in demand in the future. The salary is also not bad.

Moreover, I aim to achieve a higher educational degree to increase my chances of securing a higher salary. After completing the course, I plan to apply for a two-year post-study work visa, allowing me to work in the UK for two years.
