Questions

What's been the most fascinating philosophical debate/discussion on your course so far and why?

What exactly is a belief? Does something have to be rational to be a belief? Are delusions beliefs? It’s interesting to hear different scholarly perspectives and reflect on the different ways we can think about how we think.

Do you have a favourite module on your degree?

It’s hard for me to choose, so I’ll tell you what I’m taking this semester. I’m taking Philosophy of Cognitive Science, Philosophy and Mental Health, and Philosophy of Mind. I’m really enjoying discussions, directly with professors and with my peers in small groups, about our human experience, or our sense of consciousness, and if it’s just a bunch of neurological functions or something immaterial.

What do you think is unique about the University of Birmingham?

It’s a very large and multicultural university with many interdisciplinary courses.
