A brief history of your career since leaving the University of Birmingham

My awarding of the Executive MBA from the University of Birmingham opened the doors of my executive career. Since completing the MBA, I’ve been a Commercial Business Unit Manager across many European countries, and am currently a Business Unit Manager responsible for operations at Yaskawa, France. I report to the Managing Director and President of this latest organisation.


Skills and knowledge from your postgraduate degree have you used in your career so far

All the skills acquired during the EMBA have been relevant, from strategy to operations, finance, and human resources.


Main work activities in your current role

Leadership is the key activity. I deal with strategy a third of the time, organisational matters for another third, and engage with personnel for a final third.


A typical day in your job

A mix of activities, which includes dealing with fast growing business processes and organisational design.


Main challenges in your role

Leading and setting up processes and organisational design for sustainable and profitable growth presents challenges.


Why did this type of work appeal to you?

I enjoy leading a team of engaged employees to successfully realise the strategy we set forward.


Advice for students looking to enter this area of work?

It is a very challenging but rewarding path to follow. It is rich in learning and lets you evolve with diverse groups of people from multi-cultural backgrounds, all of whom share similar visions for success.
