A brief history of your career since leaving the University of Birmingham

I went back to aerospace industry and continued to be engineer. Then I joined an aircraft leasing company.

Main work activities in your current role

I look at the data on the aircraft maintenance side of the industry, to make sure our system have the correct figures for the aircraft’s maintenance value.

Analysing data about aircraft, and related activities/areas.


Main challenges in your role

A lot of analysis is required, to ascertain the expected maintenance value of aircraft. This requires a constantly checking data repeatedly over shot periods of time.


Why did this type of work appeal to you?

Expertise on both aircraft and data analysis are required, and aspects of the job which I enjoy.


Advice for students looking to enter this area of work?

Gain prior knowledge of the industry by reading news about aircraft, and related activities. For example, look at which aircraft are being ordered in high volumes, and which airliners of lessors are ordering them. Also look at what aircraft types are popular among airliners, and which airliners are most profitable, and which are making the most losses.
