A brief history of your career since leaving the University of Birmingham

When I finished my postgraduate programme in 2001, I joined Zanzibar Roads Fun as a Chief Engineer. In 2014 I was then promoted to the position of Executive Director. As of April 2016, I have been appointed to the position of Deputy Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communication and Transportation of Zanzibar.

Skills involve road management, administration, and engineering.

Main work activities in your current role

My role involves policy formulation, the implementation of strategy and other planning, and administering and managing the ministry.

A typical day in your job

It is always a busy day with a lot of commitments.

Main challenges in your role

There is often a lot required in a minimum amount of time, and with insufficient resources.

Work hard and innovate. Be committed, honest, obedient and productive. It’s important to experience teamwork, and to have the ability to motivate yourself and others.
